receives many requests from high schools for speakers to discuss technology
career opportunities in central Pennsylvania. About four years ago, the
Tech Council produced a 45-minute interactive video describing technology
career opportunities for Central Pennsylvania high school students. The
video was very well received by high school educators.
TCCP, in partnership with the Harrisburg Regional Chamber/CREDC
and other workforce development organizations in the region, approached
the Team PA Foundation for grant funding through the State's
Stay Invent the Future initiative to update the CD. TCCP
was awarded about half the cost of funding a new CD project contingent
upon partnering with local businesses who would match the funds. This
effort as a whole supports the fact that Pennsylvania is a great place
to live, work, and play.
The final product is this web site and the interactive
multimedia CD. TechQuest is a fun way for middle and high school students
to learn about careers in technology. The project provides real-life resources
to assist them on their career path, from where to go for education and
training to finding companies located in the region that need employees
with the skill sets described therein.
